What to watch out for when measuring curtains
Curtain length
In addition to exact dimensions such as window and door width, other dimensions also matter. For example, the length of the curtains is important – whether they should be down to the floor or just above the floor. Especially in older buildings, floors and ceilings are not completely level, so you should measure windows and doors in several places. If you combine blackout curtains with transparent curtains, the curtains should be shorter than the curtains so that they do not peek out. If the curtains reach the windowsill, you should also think about heating when measuring the curtains.
Hanging
For proper hanging, it is important to measure the height from the top edge of the hanging rod, or in the case of a rail, the height from the ceiling. Do you prefer loops or rings? You have to ask yourself this question when measuring curtains and drapes, because in that case you also need to take into account the diameter of the curtain rod.
Curtain width
Width is important when measuring future curtains. Drapes and curtains usually end approximately where the windows are. The entire room and the windows look optically larger when the fabric covers the wall on both sides by 20 cm. When measuring, you must also think about the desired gathering of the fabric – depending on this, count on double or triple the width of the fabric.
